The first part of A Study of Denominations is an investigation into Christian religious organizations, or groups of Christian religious organizations, with distinctive doctrines and teachings. The relationship between these doctrines and teachings and what is revealed in the New Testament is then considered. Note that we have not attempted to delineate between “Christian denominations” and what many would describe as “Christian cults” or “Pseudo-Christian cults”; we do not seek to focus prejudice on one set of groups so as to give the impression that the other set are absolved of any difficulty. Our goal remains to examine the various groups claiming to follow Jesus and purport to be Christian and compare their teachings with that of the Scriptures.
